A-Level English Literature Tuition

At Peregrine Tutors, we offer a specialised A Level English Literature programme designed to build confidence, deepen understanding and raise attainment. Our approach combines expert teaching with flexibility, so that students receive the kind of support that makes a real difference—whether they’re aiming to secure top grades or simply want to feel more in control of the subject.

12-Week A Level English Literature Course

Two lessons per week | Small group and 1:1 teaching

This course runs over 12 weeks and blends small group teaching with personalised 1:1 support. We recognise that while the core assessment objectives are consistent across exam boards, the specific texts and course structures vary. Our programme is built to adapt to those differences.

Weekly Structure:

  • Lesson One: Unseen Poetry and Prose (small group)

In this interactive class, students work collaboratively on a range of unseen extracts, developing key skills such as:

  1. Contextual understanding (AO3)

  2. Structured strategies for tackling unseen texts

  3. Close analysis and precise use of literary terminology (AO2)

These sessions encourage active learning and peer discussion, followed by focused teaching and whole-group feedback.

  • Lesson Two: Exam Board and Text-Specific Support (small group, pair or 1:1)

These sessions are tailored to the student’s specific course and texts. Whether in a small group or 1:1, students receive direct support with essays, coursework, and set texts. The format remains flexible depending on the needs of the group and the stage of the programme.

Additional 1:1 sessions can also be arranged, giving students access to further individualised help when needed.

Proven Results and Positive Feedback

Our current A Level cohort (2024–2025) reported high levels of satisfaction, with parents praising the balance between independent challenge and personalised guidance. Every student who completed the initial 12-week programme chose to continue, remaining enrolled from September through to the summer exam season.
